This is an authentic Puglian house called a trullo. These round houses with conical rooves, are uniquely found in Puglia, the heel of Italy’s “boot”. Villa Baraquiel can sleep 8 in 4 double bedrooms in the charming countryside around Alberobello. The setting is in the heart of the Salento region and the house is located within extensive grounds planted with more than 800 mature trees. With all these olive, almond, fig, plum and walnut trees surrounding the house, you are in an oasis and a deep sense of relaxation takes over as soon as you arrive.
Fortunately, you have a very short transfer time as it is only 5km to the nearest airport of Brindisi which should take around 20 minutes (or 10km from Bari airport which takes 40 minutes). Once you are in place at Villa Baraquiel, it is 2km to the nearest supermarket to stock up on all your amenities and the same to the nearest town and nearest restaurant. Pop also to Alberobello for further retail opportunities and taste some of the local delicacies and wines for fun.
The villa is the perfect starting point for discovering the area. For a day trip you can visit Ostuni, which is one of the best known of the area’s white hilltop towns and Martina Franca which is a pretty and unusual baroque town; there is plenty more besides to see and do in this spectacular and lesser known region.
For your morning and evening dip there is the fabulous pool of 14 x 7m with its cobalt mosaic tiling, but for a day trip, the beach is only 5km away and easily accessible.
You are in the heart of the seaside and countryside dining scene here and can be in the nearest restaurant within a 5 minute drive; but, with a stunning fully stocked outside kitchen and BBQ, you can have all the fun of eating well without the crowds. You may find that your outdoor dining experience is so special, that you eat in more than out. With house-keeping services available 6 days a week, you will not be bothered with the aftermath.
Benefitting from two stone courtyards, outdoor living is a highlight here. Seating and dining al fresco around the pool, is one of the pleasures of Villa Baraquiel.
Sympathetically decorated, in keeping with the authentic architecture of the house, all the sociable areas, the private bedrooms and bathrooms are furnished in soft colours. This muted palette of whites and creams keeps the vibe clean, crisp and supremely restful. The bedrooms are decorated with top designer furniture and carefully chosen artefacts with greenery placed throughout. There are 2 en-suite bathrooms and one bathroom that is shared. Tasteful care is extended to every corner of the house and garden.
With such a wide list of reasons to stay at this lovely villa, the choice seems obvious. For seaside and countryside lovers, as well as culture vultures, you can combine your interests and have access them all. There is also all the sight seeing you have energy for. After your stay at Villa Baraquiel has worked its magic, you will find you have wonderful memories to take home with you.
