This traditional Tuscan villa is a firm family favourite. A welcoming four-bedroom house, with private pool, set in the peaceful Italian countryside, yet near to the lovely town of Lucca and Viareggio beach.

Casa di San Lorenzo is just a 10-minute drive to local shops and restaurants in Lucca. Lucca, 17km away, is well worth at least one visit during your stay. Remarkably, the Renaissance city walls have been preserved and have been turned into a tree-lined promenade that affords visitors wonderful views. Back down on the cobbled streets, there’s much more history to discover, including a piazza built on the remains of a Roman amphitheatre. For a day by the sea, head to the upmarket beach resort of Viareggio, 19km from the villa. This long stretch of sand has plenty of deck chairs under colourful sun umbrellas, and a chic passeggiata with boutiques and traditional gelato shops. Viareggio is also home to Carnevale, a spectacular parade of papier-maché floats that runs in the four weeks leading up to Lent each year. The villa is driving distance to the major cities of Pisa (50km) and Florence (70km) and their international airports.

This charming house is the opposite of a bland rental villa. A lived-in family home, it’s filled with character and warmth. A country-style kitchen leads into the dining room, and has doors out onto a dining patio too. There are lots of areas for relaxation; a large, bright sitting room with a working fire, a well-stocked library, and a family room with Satellite TV. The extensive, family-friendly gardens feature a 12m pool and pool house, lawns (including a football pitch), table tennis and olive groves. There are four bedrooms spread across the ground floor, first floor and the attic. Two of the bedrooms have en suites, and all bedrooms have air conditioning.

The rental includes bed linen, bath towels and pool towels which are changed weekly. There is also garden and pool maintenance 6 days a week.
