In the heart of the the Midi-Pyrénées region of south-west France lies a rare gem. Le Moulin, originally a 16th century water mill, is now a charming luxury villa, with a swimming pool, tennis court and the River Célé running through its magnificent grounds.
To reach the villa, fly to Toulouse, and it’s less than a 2-hour drive north into the Parc Naturel Regional des Causses du Quercy. The villa is in a valley within this national park, which is known as a walker’s paradise. Grab a map from the sitting room and head out on one of the well-marked foot paths to explore the valley or visit nearby villages. Alternatively, head beyond the valley into the wild countryside on horseback or take a gentle cycle along the river road. The local town, Carjac, is a 15-minute drive, where you can stock up on supplies from the boulangeries, charcuteries, wine merchants and delicatessens. Visit on a Saturday and you’ll find a bustling market in the beautiful town square.
Le Moulin sleeps up to 10 guests across three properties: The Miller’s House, The Tower and The Cottage. The Miller’s House has spacious master bedroom with en suite, a garden double bedroom with a bathroom next door and a further twin/double bedroom with en suite. The Tower has a family bedroom that can be arranged as a twin or double, with the option for a third small bed, and a master bedroom in the attic, both with en suites. The Cottage sits at the end of the drive and has a twin/double bedroom with en suite. The Miller’s House has an open-plan, farmhouse kitchen and living/dining room with a large working fireplace. In summer, there are two dining terraces to choose from; the first is a terrace next to the kitchen, shaded by a mature grapevine, and the second is on the terrace that connects the main house to The Tower. Le Moulin boasts an extensive range of outdoor facilities within its 15-acre grounds. There’s a grass tennis court and a croquet lawn, with equipment provided for each, and a private swimming pool. By the river you’ll find a ping-pong table and kayaks to keep you entertained or opt to just take it easy in one of the hammocks.
This exclusive villa is owned and managed by former hoteliers, Deirdre and Marc Gysling and their team. They have a passion for hospitality and high standards of customer care and they love to share their knowledge of the local area via their bespoke concierge service.
Packed with character and plenty of facilities, Le Moulin is a much-loved villa rental. This luxury rural villa in the heart of the Midi-Pyrénées has all the ingredients for a memorable holiday with family or friends.
