Villa Petra sits amongst olive groves above the popular village of San Stephanos in northeast Corfu., one of the most attractive locations on this fashionable island. San Stephanos (also known as Agios Stephanos) is a pretty fishing village that’s become a welcoming holiday destination. Local fishermen still return with their catch to the horseshoe bay, but the village now has shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to cater for holidaymakers. The village also has a golden sandy beach which is ideal for families with children. From San Stephanos you can explore the neighbouring bays and coves along the coast, either by renting a boat or walking along the coastal footpath. The village is just a three-minute drive from Villa Petra. It’s also possible to hike down the hill to the village in 15 minutes…but it is a hill that may take a little longer to climb on the way back. Corfu Town, the port and airport are an hour’s drive from the villa.

Villa Petra is an inviting ‘home-from-home’, built with local stone and furnished by the English owners in comfort and style. The house has five bedrooms, three of which are en suite, a modern kitchen and dining room, and a large, bright sitting room. The villa has a Bose iPod docking system, air conditioning and good Wi-Fi connection throughout. On the ground floor there’s a terrace running the length of the house, with a shaded section in the middle. Under this awning is a large dining table seating 10 and an outdoor lounge area. On the lower level, next to the swimming pool, is a second terrace, also with a dining table, shaded by a wisteria covered pergola. There’s a pool kitchen and gas barbeque, making this the perfect spot for relaxed dining by the pool.

The English owners of Villa Petra have lovingly created a property that’s very much a home. It’s maintained to the highest standard, with housekeeping six days a week and a twice-weekly linen change.
