Sleeping up to 10 guests across five en suite bedrooms, the house combines traditional architecture and locally crafted interiors with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere. At its heart is a peaceful courtyard garden with a swimming pool and sunken seating area, while the beach is just a five-minute walk away.
The ground floor centres around an open-plan dining area and kitchen, with an adjacent sitting room, all opening directly onto the pool terrace and courtyard garden. Two spacious bedrooms – one double and one twin – are also on this level, both with doors leading outside. Two further bedrooms occupy the first floor, each with its own balcony or private outdoor space with seating, with a further large bedroom on the second floor. All five bedrooms are generous in size and designed as comfortable private spaces, with either their own sitting areas or balconies from which to enjoy the surroundings.
There are ceiling fans in all of the bedrooms.
A sunken seating area creates an inviting spot for gathering in the cooler hours, while the bedrooms on both floors make the most of the tropical setting with direct access to outdoor spaces. From the house, the dunes provide a natural route towards Shela’s beautiful beach, just five minutes away on foot.
Shela Beach is around a five-minute walk away, reached either across the dunes or through the village. Beyond the beach, Lamu is a fascinating blend of Swahili culture, history and natural beauty. Narrow winding streets, traditional dhow boats, historic architecture and vibrant local markets give the island a wonderfully timeless atmosphere, while its pristine beaches and tranquil pace make it an exceptional destination for a relaxed coastal escape.
