The Peloponnese is a mountainous peninsula linked to mainland Greece by the narrow isthmus and dramatic canal at Corinth. Airport: Kalamata International Airport (KLX) serves the southern Peloponnese with seasonal direct flights from the UK. For the northern Peloponnese, fly to Athens International Airport (ATH) and drive south over the Corinth Canal.

The Peloponnese coastline is among the most beautiful in Greece, with beaches to suit every kind of villa holiday. On the west coast in Messinia, Voidokilia is justly famous, a perfect crescent of pale sand backed by dunes and an ancient lagoon, often ranked among Europe’s finest. Further south in the outer Mani, Foneas is a tiny pebbled cove framed by dramatic rocks, while the long sandy stretch at Stoupa offers gentler swimming and a relaxed taverna scene. Down on the Laconian Gulf, Mavrovouni near Gythio sweeps for several kilometres of soft sand, and the celebrated Simos beach on the offshore island of Elafonisos is a short drive and ferry away, with turquoise water that rivals the Cyclades. Closer to Patras, Kalogria offers pine-fringed sand and shallow, family-friendly bays.
