Views across the valley below are spectacular, and the elevated position has an air of being 'far from the madding crowd', yet it's so well placed for exploring the beautiful west part of the island. A 19th-century Mallorcan villa beautifully remodelled into a contemporary holiday home.
Thick exposed stone walls, wooden beamed ceilings and natural floors are complemented by modern art, lots of wood and rattan furniture, house plants and the occasional antique piece. The main L-shaped living area blends seamlessly with the exterior, creating a visually harmonious whole. There are five, airy super king bedrooms and one twin. One of the bedrooms on the ground floor is wheelchair friendly. All have stylish modern ensuite bathrooms.
A dining area adjacent to the house sits under an awning with sun drapes to provide shading. There's also a BBQ, pizza oven, and a variety of seating to enjoy the views. The gardens have a very modern feel, with heat-tolerant plants in curved beds, a corten steel fountain, wide paths, and, at one end, a 50-ft infinity pool. Hammocks and sun loungers provide ample places to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
You can also walk to Fornalutx in about 15 minutes and to Soller in 20. The house is just off the old Camino walking route, midway between these two charming places. Fornalutx has several good restaurants and a very picturesque square where you can sit with a drink. Soller is much larger and consists of two parts - the town of Soller and the port of Port de Soller. There's a vintage tram that links the two. Both are lovely to explore, from the narrow streets, shops and church of Soller to the more beach vibe of the port, where there are some good seafood restaurants and various watersports activities. Other highly recommended towns (slightly further away) are Valldemossa and Deia.
